Culver’s Kid’s Meal Program

Everyone loves Culver’s—fresh, delicious food, friendly service and an upbeat atmosphere. So how do you translate that brand experience into an online world for kids age 6 to 9? By channeling our own inner kids, we revamped the entire program, from giving their mascot, Scoopie, a millennial makeover and creating fun games that challenge body and mind to redesigning packaging, premiums and in-store communications. The result was placematpark.com—a website that increased average site time from 52 seconds to nearly 7 minutes in length and decreased the bounce rate from an average of 42% to less than 1%. Everyone who touched the project had a great time—and the spike in Web traffic says that includes a whole lot of Web-surfing kids!

After talking with our target, we quickly found that nothing beat the simplicity of just saying “hello.” This insight set the tone for the launch. We surrounded our target with relevant broad media touchpoints as well as context-specific places like cinemas and gas stations. The introduction deepened with print, rich media Web banners, e-newsletters and direct mail. All this built a strong layer of awareness and brand recognition. When local agents hit the field, prospects were primed to continue the conversation.

We helped this startup build an e-commerce business from the ground up, including integration with the clients’ ERP systems. After helping Famous Footwear grow from 80 stores to 1,100 stores, its brand-names-for-less positioning had been aped by nearly all the competition. Clearly, it was time for a makeover—and one that could be brought to light in seasonal promotions such as back-to-school and holidays. After researching potential Soul Purposes^SM, we coined “found them at Famous”—capturing mom’s joy of shoe-shopping success. You see, a Famous mom rejoices when she finds real-world fashion without breaking the bank or her stride. And when she repeatedly lays the plastic down, you know you’ve earned her trust.

A premium maker of home water systems, including purification and softening, Kinetico needed to reenergize its dealer network and spur sales. We saw an untapped opportunity to invite women into the conversation and thereby into the category (while the buying decision is typically made by couples, communication in the category historically ignored the better half). Knowing our target cares profoundly about what enters her home, and particularly what her family consumes, we set out to bring water treatment out of the basement and into her world. By leveraging her role in the decision making process, Kinetico’s relevance increased, Web traffic doubled and Web leads to dealers increased 400%.
