Deep in the Heart of Texas: Our New Texas Home

March 27, 2024by Hiebing

Established in Madison, Wisconsin, by Roman Hiebing in 1981, we were built on the foundational pillars of curiosity, excellence and a “we before me” ethos. Easy to say, yet hard to achieve, we live those ideals daily, as our organization crafts meaningful and memorable stories that move the needle for each client we serve. A decade ago, recognizing the vibrant energy and kindred spirit Austin shares with our beloved Madison, we embarked on a journey to extend our presence beyond the Dairyland into the great Lonestar State.

Our Texas beginnings were humble. We put our boots on the ground in 2014 as a one-person, one-room outpost tucked inside a historic home that had been converted into offices. Our early roster featured hospitality clients, including Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa and Grand Hyatt San Antonio, both true Texas destinations that powered our growth. With these Texas-sized partnerships under our belts, our scrappy outpost blossomed into a prosperous neighborhood of creative minds. We were fortunate to see steady advancement through a global pandemic and multiple temporary offices throughout downtown. While change amid growth is a given, we also knew we wanted to have a permanent home – a place where our Austin team would be proud to hang their hats and that was on par with our incredible Madison digs. We found the perfect spot: Tucked beside the iconic Zilker Park, just a short walk from Ladybird Lake, we acquired 406 Sterzing Street.

The building’s original owners, Patrice and Jim Arnold, opened their law firm on Sterzing Street in 1986 and offered prime office real estate to other local law practices. Their aim to create an energetic and vibrant community began within the walls of this four-story building: a welcoming, quintessential modern ’80s office with beautiful dark wood paneling and green carpet that set the tone. For over 35 years, 406 Sterzing fostered a cozy environment for thriving attorneys to make a difference – it continues to inspire now, as the new home to brand champions, data scientists, creative storytellers and media strategists. After a nine-month renovation, the green carpet may be a thing of the past, but the goodwill the Arnolds cultivated toward creating an inviting, friendly neighborhood remains strong in Hiebing’s vision for the future.

Just footsteps from the original Chuy’s on Barton Springs, with stellar views of the downtown Austin skyline, the glow from our new, bright neon sign and renovated interior with its crisp, modern nods to the styles of the ’80s – 406 Sterzing stands as a true celebration of a rich Austin history and the last 10 years of Hiebing excellence in serving local and regional clients like Chuy’s, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Austin Area, the Colorado River Alliance, CEFCO, Texas Industrial Remcor, Woodbine Development Corporation and more.

With stories of the past fueling the aspirations of our future, our new home serves as a beacon of creativity and a testament to the “give a damn” Hiebing brings to the table for one another, our communities and the clients we serve. As we step into this new chapter, we extend a warm invitation to join us for a sneak peek of our new digs, deep in the heart of Texas.
